FTC Funeral Rule

Under the Federal Trade Commission's Funeral Rule, consumers have the right to:

• Get price information over the phone.
• Receive a written, itemized price list when visiting a funeral home.
• Buy only the goods and services they want — no forced packages.
• Use a casket or urn purchased elsewhere with no extra fee.
• Decline embalming in most situations.
